My name is Michelle – though most of my friends call me Michy Moo!
I’m deeply passionate about psychology and its power to support and uplift individuals and families. In fact, I hold an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Brock University. During my final year, I completed an Honours Research Thesis under the supervision of Dr. Michael Busseri in the Well-Being Research Lab, which examines the structure and function of subjective well-being.
After graduation, I continued working in the lab as a Research Assistant and became an Observer for the Supervised Parenting Time Niagara program at Pathstone Mental Health. I also volunteered for the Strengthening Families for the Future program at John Howard Society of Niagara, where I helped children build various life skills and facilitated family practice sessions.
From these experiences, I developed a strong understanding of the importance of supporting families through a trauma-informed lens and creating a safe and compassionate space. In the fall, I will be starting my Master of Education in Counselling Psychology at the University of Ottawa.
I am honoured to be a part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to supporting clients in healing their relationship with food and their bodies through an anti-diet and weight-inclusive lens. I admire The Balanced Practice’s commitment to providing care from a lived-experience informed, collaborative and client-centred approach.
