Struggling with eating disorders and body image issues can lead to feelings of hopelessness and a belief that recovery is out of reach. In a world that often lacks support and understanding, many people feel uncertain about what to expect from therapy or how it can help.
My goal is to provide a nurturing and supportive environment where you can feel safe exploring these challenges. Together, we can work towards healing and finding a path forward that feels right for you.
My trauma-informed approach to therapy includes elements from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Intuitive Eating, and Brainspotting, with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) integrated as needed.
Adolescents (14+), adults
My lived experience with an eating disorder and body image issues greatly influences my work. This experience led me to pursue a PhD in social work, focusing on the harms caused by diet culture and weight stigma, which has further fueled my passion for advocating against weight bias and promoting body inclusivity. These experiences and beliefs drive my commitment to creating a supportive and understanding environment for those I work with, ensuring that each person feels valued and empowered on their journey toward healing and well-being.
I love working at The Balanced Practice because of our shared commitment to breaking down diet culture. Working with an interdisciplinary team strengthens the therapy process, providing comprehensive and tailored support to ensure everyone receives the best possible care.
