We know that accessing therapy can be a significant financial investment. Our low-cost therapy option was created to make specialized care more accessible while also supporting the growth and training of emerging clinicians in the eating disorder field. At The Balanced Practice, Low-cost therapy is provided by student therapists completing their practicum placement under the supervision of Monique Robinson, an experienced Registered Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor who specializes in eating disorder care.
Student therapists are therapists-in-training who have completed their master’s-level coursework and are now completing their clinical practicum placement. This practicum is where they begin providing therapy under the supervision and guidance of an experienced clinician. When you work with a student therapist, you are receiving care from someone who is actively developing their clinical skills while being closely supported through regular supervision, consultation, and oversight. This means your care is not happening in isolation. Your student therapist is part of The Balanced Practice team and receives ongoing support to ensure your therapy is thoughtful, ethical, collaborative, and aligned with our approach to eating disorder and mental health care.

If you are unsure whether this option is the right fit, our team can help guide you through the next steps.
Our student therapists are passionate about supporting clients in healing their relationship with food, body, and self. They are part of The Balanced Practice team and receive ongoing supervision to ensure clients are supported with care, intention, and clinical guidance.
If you are interested in low-cost therapy, the first step is to book a connection call with our team. This call helps us better understand what you are looking for, answer any questions you may have, and make sure that low-cost therapy with a student therapist is the right fit for your needs. We want to feel confident that the care we are offering is aligned, appropriate, and supportive before moving into sessions. If low-cost therapy feels like the right fit, we will help you get started with an assessment and ongoing sessions with one of our student therapists.
We offer different services in order to meet you exactly where you are at and provide you with the most appropriate level of support to reach your goals (no one-size-fits-all here).
