Many clients come into therapy feeling unsure of where to start or how to show up, which makes a lot of sense when navigating things like finding the right fit, uncertainty, vulnerability, or overwhelm.

It’s my pleasure to meet those experiences with understanding. My approach is collaborative, individualized, and rooted in curiosity. This means we take the time to understand what’s coming up for you, at a pace that feels safe because there isn’t one “right” way to show up.

I view the therapeutic journey as something we build together. A space where you can show up as you are, without needing to have it all figured out.

What Influences My Work

My work is shaped by both my personal and professional experiences. As someone with lived experience of disordered eating and as a Latina immigrant woman, I recognize how society, diet culture, identity, and lived experience can shape the way we relate to food, our bodies, and ourselves. These experiences are what drew me to this work and continue to influence how I show up as a provider. Because of this, I value creating a therapeutic space that feels safe, supportive, collaborative, and individualized to each client’s unique needs and experiences.

What I Like Most About Working at TBP

Since first joining the team, I’ve really valued being part of a space where providers share similar values and approaches to care. What stands out to me most is the way eating disorder recovery is supported here. Before joining The Balanced Practice, I hadn’t encountered an approach that felt collaborative, was trauma-informed, weight-inclusive, and genuinely centred around the client.

It feels meaningful to be part of a team that prioritizes creating a space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported, while ensuring their experiences remain at the centre of their care.

My Experience

I am currently completing the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) program at Yorkville University and am stepping into the role of Student Therapist under the supervision of Monique Kaye-Robinson (RP) as I complete my practicum.

Before transitioning into this role, I joined The Balanced Practice team as the Clinic Coordinator, a role I have held for the past two years. In this position, I have supported clients as they reached out to begin care and throughout their ongoing journey.

Throughout my undergraduate degree, much of my academic and research focus centred on eating disorder recovery, including completing my final research project on orthorexia nervosa and the influence of social media “it girl” culture. Through both my continuing education and graduate training, I’ve been introduced to a range of approaches including CBT, ACT, somatic and mindfulness-based practices, and parts work. I tend to draw from these approaches in a flexible and collaborative way, depending on what feels most supportive for each person.
