Many clients feel overwhelmed when beginning therapy, particularly when they are struggling with disordered eating. They may feel unsure of where to start, question whether therapy will be helpful, or feel pressure to already have everything figured out.
I primarily work through a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) lens, helping clients understand the relationship between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. I also integrate a psychoanalytic and insight-oriented approach to explore how early life experiences and relational patterns may continue to influence present-day challenges.
I strive to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental therapeutic environment where clients feel understood and empowered. Through collaboration and trust, I support clients in developing insight, reducing distressing patterns, and moving forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Adults (19+)
My work is influenced by my cultural background and my passion for eating disorder treatment. I am particularly interested in understanding how early life experiences, identity, and emotional patterns shape an individual’s relationship with food and the body. I am currently conducting research comparing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) in the treatment of bulimia nervosa, which continues to inform my evidence-based clinical practice.
What excites me most about working at The Balanced Practice is the collaborative, all-in-one model of care and the supportive interdisciplinary team. I feel confident that clients are receiving comprehensive, compassionate, and high-quality care.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and a graduate of City University of Canada, where I earned my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. I have worked as a counsellor with Ottawa Muslim Community Services (OMCS), providing support to individuals from diverse backgrounds within a culturally responsive and community-based setting.
