MEET THE

Meet Marie-Pier, an anti-diet Registered Dietitian with a B.Sc. in Psychology and the founder of The Balanced Dietitian. She is passionate about helping folks discover how to nourish their bodies without guilt, shame or restrictions. She strives to provide evidence based nutrition interventions to all her clients and support them in their recovery journeys. You can spot Marie-Pier on local news, radio stations and giving presentations to different organization on nutrition! She is the host of The Balanced Dietitian Podcast where she provides listeners a different approach to nutrition. Marie-Pier offers one on one counselling as well as an online group program. (Bilingual in French and English)

Meet Joelle, an anti-diet Registered Dietitian. She has a wide range of experience working as a dietitian (long term care, pediatrics, eating disorders, community and home care). She believes in evidenced based nutrition care and strives to provide a client centred approach to foster a positive and welcoming environment for her clients. Her mission is to help individuals heal their relationship with food and their bodies so they can stop dieting and start living a life that they enjoy. Second to her passion for nutrition, Joelle enjoys dancing and is a director and active member of Culture Shock Ottawa. Joelle offers one on one counselling (Bilingual in French and English).

Meet Jasna,  a Registered Dietitian (RD) and Nutrition Therapist based in Ottawa, Canada. She believes in a non-dieting, weight-inclusive approach and that your food experience should ultimately be enjoyable! She aims to create an environment where people feel empowered to learn skills and make lasting changes. Jasna uses intuitive and mindful eating as the foundation for helping clients develop behaviours they feel good about.

Jasna is a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) and a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor (CIEC) and has expertise in healing disordered eating and emotional eating, as well as perinatal nutrition. She aims to help people create a happy relationship with food while managing chronic conditions. She has delivered workshops to health care professionals and taught nutrition to nurses at CPIT college in New Zealand. Jasna has written articles for print and electronic media including Keeping On Magazine and Healthinfo, and she is a contributing author to the textbook Culinary Rehab (unpublished). Jasna offers one on one counselling (Bilingual in French and English).

Claire believes in using a non-diet and weight-inclusive approach to help her clients heal their relationship with food and their bodies. She focuses on promoting overall health and wellbeing in a supportive, non-judgemental way.​

Meet Nataly, an anti-diet Registered Dietitian (RD) who believes that all foods fit. She uses a collaborative approach when counselling clients to ensure that they feel supported, empowered, and comfortable. Using intuitive eating and mindful eating, Nataly helps clients ditch diets and heal their relationship with food. She has expertise in the areas of disordered eating, emotional eating, digestive health, cardiovascular health, and diabetes management.

Meet Katrina, a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario. Katrina strongly believes that there is no one way towards mental or physical wellness, everyone has a different path they must walk to find what works for them. Sometimes you need someone to walk with you and shine a light to help you find the right path and that is what Katrina is here for. She will be with you to help you explore what brought you to where you are now and help you get where you want to go. Katrina strives to create a warm environment where your goodness, resourcefulness, gifts, perspectives, life experiences, and opportunities are honoured and respected to ensure that clients are supported in their recovery journey.

The Balanced Practice has evolved to a team of registered dietitians and therapists on a mission to support folks in finding their perfect balance between food, body and mind. We believe that we cannot talk about food without addressing our mindset, beliefs and emotions. We work with our clients to help them walk away from diets and learn to reconnect to themselves through their relationship to food, body and self. 

Our approach is weight inclusive, sexuality & gender affirming, trauma-informed and anti diet culture. We firmly believe that health is not reserved for any body type.

The Balanced Practice was created to fill the gap. 

The Balanced Practice is a place where you can be seen for you are, supported without judgement and empowered with evidence based knowledge. 

Because life is too short to struggle with your relationship with food & your body. 

The Balanced Practice was founded by Marie-Pier, who after struggling with her relationship with food and her body, noticed a gap in our healthcare system.. Through her recovery, she noticed that nutrition and psychology were often addressed separately without acknowledging the strong link between the two.
